Chinese University Leaders Learn from World-Class Universities in the U.S.
In December 2014, a group of university leaders from the Chinese Ministry of Education traveled to the United States for a three-week training program organized by the US-China Exchange Association. The training focused on studying the management experience of top universities worldwide, with an emphasis on research management, innovation mechanism, performance evaluation, and science and technology transformation.
The group's first week of intensive training took place at the University of California, Berkeley, where they were taught by leading professors and university leaders. Discussions included topics such as managing secondary colleges, industry-academia-research cooperation, operating research institutes, and psychological counseling and career guidance for students. The group also visited other prestigious universities such as California Davis University, Seattle University, University of Washington, University of Southern California, and California Institute of Technology to exchange ideas with the presidents and leaders of those universities.
University leaders from more than ten Chinese universities, including Beijing University of Technology, Northeast University of Finance and Economics, Nankai University, China University of Medicine, Central Conservatory of Music, and Shandong University, participated in the training. Through the experience, the university leaders gained a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the management of American universities, including not only learning management strategies from famous universities but also paying attention to various details that managers need to focus on. The training will play a positive role in further improving the leadership of each university.
2014年12月，中国教育部高校领导赴海外培训团在美国旧金山、西雅图、洛杉矶地区进行了为期三周紧张而高效的培训。在美国美中交流协会的安排下，培训班深入学习了世界一流学府的管理经验，对于美国大学的科研管理、创新机制、绩效评估、科技转化等领域进行了深入的学习和考察。
培训团首先在位于旧金山的加州伯克利大学进行了一周的密集培训，伯克利大学高等教育研究中心主任，前加州大学总校副校长为学员深入讲解了美国加州公立大学的管理经验和创新理念。其他授课教授包括伯克利大学生物科学研究院院长、公共政策学员院长、信息技术创新中心副主任、加州大学总校副教务长等大学领导。学员们和授课教授深入探讨大学管理的各个方面，包括二级学院的管理、产学研合作机制、研究院的运作、学生的心理辅导和就业指导等。此外，培训团还在加州戴维斯大学、西雅图大学、华盛顿大学、南加州大学、加州理工大学等名校进行了学习和交流，与各大学的校长和领导亲切交流大学管理的各个层面。
参加此次培训的大学领导来自北京工业大学、东北财经大学、南开大学、中国医药大学、中央音乐学院、山东大学等10多所优秀高校。通过三周的学习和体验，大学领导们对美国大学的管理有了全面深入的了解，不仅学习了著名高校的管理策略，也了解了管理者需要关注的各个细节，对于进一步提升各个高校的领导力将起到积极的推动作用。
